My dad...
I have photos
I have death certificate
I have photo of headstone
I have obits
I have part of divorce papers
I have numerous cards and letters between mom and dad and the other 3 kids
I have his police badge and his army badge
I have Civil Service application
Nick-name "Buster", Mom called him Ted
I can't remember how Mom told me that she and Dad met, I am sure the
other kids might remember the stories. The marriage licence reads: Guy
Ted Nason and Madelene Adelaide Holloway, August 16, 1937 at the
Methodist Church in North Hollywood California. Witnessed by Fred L. Van
Winkle who resided at Van Nuys and Adelaide Van Winkle residing at Van
Nuys California (Madelene Holloway's' sister and brother-in-law). Dad
listed his age as being 22, Mom listed her age as being 22, which means
dad was lying his age on this application.
Mom had a miscarriage early in the marriage and then Marlene Adelaide
Nason was born on November 19, 1941, second child also a daughter, Diane
Elizabeth Nason born September 21, 1943, third finally came a son, Guy
Theodore Nason, III, who was born January 5, 1945, then came me, Winifred
Lorraine Nason, December 12, 1952. Mom and Dad were separated when I was
born, I don't know if she got pregnant with me to try and make the
marriage work or why there was such a gap in between my brother and I.
The divorce was final in November 1954.
Dad died at Gardena Medical center Hospital - 2315 W. Compton Blvd,
Gardena California at 5:15 pm. November 24, 1973. At the time of his
death he was a Security Guard at the Rainbow Club/Monterey Club in
Gardena CA. His death was caused by a fight he had at the Rainbow Club
while working. One player got mad at another player over a card game and
dad tried to break it up, he was then involved in the fight and was
kicked in the chest. He got up after the fight and went into the coffee
shop at the Rainbow Club and had a cup of coffee and mentioned he felt
"funny", hot, sweaty. He wouldn't go to the hospital at first but
someone finally put him in their car and drove him to the emergency room.
Cause of death was cardiac arrest. He lived about 2-3 hours after the
fight. He is buried at Green Hills Memorial Park, San Pedro California.
He was the Security Chief and head of the employees, at the Rainbow Club
and Monterey Club, his title was "Captain".
Dad was in the Army during the 40's, but he never fought overseas.
During the marriage Dad was a Police Officer, Ambulance Driver, Truck
Driver, in fact they had their own Trucking Business in Oakdale
California during the 40's called "Nason's Livestock Transport", he even
sold cars once while living in Los Angeles. He worked for Los Angeles
Police Department as an officer and he was also a Deputy Marshall in
Compton. This is what he was doing when Mom and Dad were divorced. His
job as Deputy Marshall was to pick up and take the judge home safely and
protect him during court proceedings, swore people in, etc...

July 1, 1948 Oakdale Leader, Oakdale CA
"Nason Leaves Post On Police Force"
Guy Nason, Oakdale police officer, resigned his position Monday. The
resignation was presented to Claude Bowen, chairman of the city council's
Police Commission, and member of the council.
Nason told Bowen that he was going to put his full time into his
livestock hauling business and would be unable to continue as an officer.
Nason operated the trucking line prior to becoming an officer about two
years ago, and through the use of other drivers, continued to operate the
business when employed as a police officer.
Nason's resignation did not come as a complete surprise to Bowen as a few
weeks ago at a special meeting of the council they were informed that he
would probably leave the force if certain business transactions, then
pending, transpired.
Although no official statement was made by any of the council members, it
is presumed a replacement will be hired Tuesday night, July 6, when the
council meets again. Howard Welsh has been acting as police officer
during the vacation period and it is understood he will seek the
permanent berth next week.

"This burglar No Respector Of Policeman"
(Using the guide up above on addresses, I figure this to be about 1943)
(No date - no newspaper name)
While Guy T. Nason, policeman, was patrolling the Valley in his radio car
Thursday night on the trail of drunks, thieves, burglars and other kinds
of law violators, a burglar broke into his home at 6537 Whitsett Ave. and
stole $100 from Mrs. Nason's purse.
That burglar, Mrs. Nason reported, pried open a screen, entered a bedroom
and took the money while Mrs. Nason was asleep shortly after midnight. It
was the second burglary there in three months, Nason reported.

"Man Explodes Like Delayed 'Cracker"
Twenty-seven year old Carl Barnette exploded like a delayed action
firecracker Friday Morning when three men from the county marshal's
office appeared with a claim and delivery action to hand over furniture
to its legal owner, Deputy Marshal Guy T. Nason was kicked in the groin
and the glasses of Sergeant Walter Barrett were smashed. The claim and
delivery order resulted from an action in Compton Municipal County,
Barnette, of 817 West 156th Street, was booked at the Compton city jail
for battery and in interfering with an office in the performance of his
duty. Deputy Marshal Curtis Harding arrived at the address first with the
claim order. Barnette refused to surrender the furniture.
Harding called the marshal's office at the Compton court. Barrett and
Nason came to his aid. Barrett attempted to explain what the order meant
to Barnett.
SHOVES SGT.
The man shoved the sergeant out of his way and yelled in foreign language
to someone else in the house. Nason investigated and found two men in the
kitchen.
Barnette ran down the hall, with Barrett behind him, to the bedroom. The
man grabbed a gun from a dresser. Nason came came in the room and wrested
the gun from him.
Barnette lunged for Nason's gun and broke away when he could not get the
weapon. Nason chased him into the hall and the defendant kicked the
deputy.
ALL OVER
He pulled open a dresser drawer, screaming he had guns, "Hiden all over
the house," when Barett slammed it shut. Barnette answered the telephone,
claimed the person on the other line was his attorney, and quieted down.
but Barnette wasn't calm for long. He jumped on Barrett and finally had
to be handcuffed.
(found clipping in moms papers)
Another clipping - no date-no newspaper
Compton - Municipal Court Marshal Guy T. Nason and Sgt. Walter O. Barrett
battled an armed man more than 30 minutes Friday before they subdued him
and jailed him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Jailed was Carl Barnett, 26, of 817 W. 156th St. The fight occurred at
Barnett's home when he put up a fight to prevent the marshal from
reclaiming some furniture on a court order. Nason was kicked in the groin
during the fight and was taken to Community Medical Center with minor
injuries.
the officers said that Barnett menaced them with a .38 caliber gun.
