Riegel, Mr. Richard E. "Dick" Sr., Vicksburg died Monday, April 16, 2001. Dick was born March 21, 1917 in Three Rivers, MI, the son of Jesse and Francella (Brown) Riegel, and had lived in the Kalamazoo/Vicksburg area for most of his life. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1939 with a B.A. degree, and prior to his retirement had worked at Clarage Fan/Zurn Industries for 45 years. Dick was formerly employed as an art teacher in Sandusky, MI, and has painted several murals in the East Campus Buildings at WMU. He was very active in Scouting throughout his life, and has served as
Scout Master and organized several new scout groups. Dick was a former member of the Kalamazoo Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #50 and helped to organize and served as the first president of the Kalamazoo Civitan Club. He also loved to fish. On August 26, 1939, he was united in marriage to Alice Milks, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters and 2 sons and their spouses, Suzanne (Keith) Husband of Kalamazoo, Richard E. Riegel Jr. of Astatula, FL., Pamela (Michael) Nelson of Kalamazoo, and Charles (Maritza) Riegel of Greenwood, IN; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Barbara) Riegel; and a sister, Margery Batterson, all of Kalamazoo; several nices and nephews. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 o'clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel 411 E. Centre Ave. 343-1508 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Dick's memory be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the Visiting Nurse Association. source:

Lewis, Sue Jeanette
Age 62 of Barlow Lake, Middleville, passed away Thursday, May 28, 1998 after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Fritz Lewis; daughters Wendy Lovelss of Shelbyville, Becky Harrison of Battle Creek, Tessie Gifford of Jackson, N.J., Kendra Velasquez of Wayland and six grandchildren; sisters Marilyn Akright of Harrison, Gerri Phillips of Lake George, Jean Gammage of Port Orange, Florida; brother Willis McQueen of Caro and numerous nephews and nieces. She was born and raised in Lansing and graduated from Everett High School in 1954. From there she married and moved to Albion with her husband, where she worked to help him earn his degree. After stops in Roscommon and Otsego she settled with a growing family in Olivet for 29 years before retirement at Barlow Lake near Middleville in 1995. During her years on this earth she established a legacy as the perfect wife, mother and friend, not only in her home community, but also throughout Michigan and across the country. Funeral Services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Gun Lake Community Church, paster Keith Dragt officiating. Interment Coman Cemetery, Middleville. Visitation will be at the Beeler Funeral Chapel 914 W. Main St., Middleville - 6-9p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barry Community Hospice, P.O. Box 308, Hastings, Michigan.
