Welte - Mrs. Frances C. Welte, former longtime Pueblo resident and
daughter of pioneer Pueblo residents, the last Mrs. and Mrs. John Nogle,
late of 1224 E. Platte, Colorado Springs, passed away Glockner Penrose
Hospital Sept. 11 following lengthy illness. Born and reared in Pueblo.
Mrs. Welte was a bookkeeper at Motor Accessory for many years. She had
resided in Colorado Springs the past 28 years. Survived by husband,
Lawrence E. Welte, family home; son, Lawrence E. Welte Jr., Colorado
Springs and following sisters and brother: Mrs. Loretto Connors and Mrs.
Josephine Porter, both of Pueblo; Mrs. Catherine Fagan, Long Beach,
Calif.; Mrs. Eveline Cowan, Lynwood, Calif., and Walter J. Noble
Whitewater, Wis. Three grandchildren also survive. Requiem Mass was
celebrated at Divine Redeemer Church, Colorado Springs, Thursday, Sept.
14, at 9 a.m. Interment was made at Evergreen Cemetery.

KOOI, Henry J. Portage
Passed away November 3, 1998. Henry was born October 24, 1913 in
Kalamazoo, the son of Henry and Agnes (Lemmer) Kooi. He worked for 41
years for Upjohn, and then volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years.
He also drove for the Red Cross and volunteered for many other Senior
Services.
He married Betty J. Blum on November 27, 1947. They celebrated 50 years
of marriage in 1997. She preceded him in death September 11, 1998.
Surviving are a son, James S. and Cynthia Kooi of Portage; 2 daughters,
Marcia and Richard Groenheide of Lawton, and Patricia and Thomas Sullivan
of Berkeley, CA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Coral
and Mel Pettit of Largo, FL; and a nephew, Randy Nason.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m.
Monday, November 16, 1998 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Peter
Kiwiet-Pantaleoni officiating. Interment of cremains at Mt. Ever- Rest.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, First Baptist Church or
Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo. Arrangements by Avink Funeral Home
