Note for: Jantje Jans Nijsing, 21 OCT 1831 - Index
Info from DD 1994
As to Ralph's oldest sibling, yes, she was Jantje Jans, born 21 Oct 1831.
All I know about her is from her father's 1848 letter: She was working
for
a dollar a week [dd]
Jane Henick or Herrick witnessed my ggf wedding in 1870 - could this be
Jantje?
Per mk Jan 2001
In Dutch Immigrants 1820-1880:
The only Herrick found was Henry Herrick on pg 401.
Henry was single, age 42, a merchant from the Netherlands (no city
given), embarked at Liverpool on the Atlantic, U.S. port =NY, April 17,
1852.
1860 census in Kalamazoo County for Herrick:
No Garrett Herrick found. There was an Albert Herrick, age 32 and Mary,
age 27, both born in NY.
Also a J.S. Herrick, age 40 and Susannah, age 36.
