WILLIS SANDY DEAD
Veteran of Civil War Was Victim
Of Spirited
Horse

Willis Sandy, aged 74, veteran of the Civil war and well known in this city, died at his home
yesterday morning, death being due to injuries received when a horse which he was driving became
frightened and ran away.
The accident occurred Friday afternoon at the end of the Irving Place car line on Seventeenth street.
Sandy was driving a spirited horse it is said, and when the car started the the animal became frightened
and ran away. The buggy was overturned and the aged driver was thrown from his seat. Several ribs were broken and he was injured internally.
Sandy has lived in Pueblo 24 years. This home was in this city, but he was engaged in ranching on his farm near Calhan for a greater part of the year.

Individual note:
Hi, Wendy,

Jack Albert Nason, 83, died last Friday morning, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. I drove to Mt. Vernon and attended the viewing on Sunday afternoon, and the (military) graveside services on Monday afternoon. He was cremated.
Details from the memorial brochure:

Jack A. Nason, born on Tuesday, March 14, 1916; died on Friday, May 21, 1999.
Burial: Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, Mount Vernon, OH

Jack had been ill for more than a year, suffering complications from
adult-onset diabetes. His final illness was brief, terminating in kidney
failure. All of us who knew Jack will miss him; my mother is particularly
devastated by this loss. She did visit him last September for a final goodbye.
