CHILD BURNER IN BLAST DIES: MOTHER HAS CHANCE FOR LIFE
(this is the mom mentioned in article)

Grief stricken and on the verge of collapse following the death easily
Tuesday of her little daughter Peggy, 16 months old, who died at St.
Mary's hospital as the result of gasoline burns received when some
garments which her mother was cleaning in the basement of their home
became ignited. Mrs. J.L Nason, of 801 Euclid Avenue, was reported
Tuesday night by attacnes (?) at the hospital to be resting quietly,
with a chance for recovery.
Gasoline fumes, which were ignighted by the furnace are thought to have
caused the explosion. Mrs. Nason, badly burned, hysterical and
temporarily blinded from the blast, rushed screaming from the burning
basement for help. The child, a human torch, miraculously made its way
to the street.
A call for the fire department had been turned in by neighbors and the
mother and child were rushed to the hospital, but even then little hope
was held for the child. J.L. Nason, father of Peggy, is superintendent
of the Purity Baking company. Funeral services for Peggy will be held
Friday morning at 9:30 at the Geo. f. McCarthy Funeral home, and at 1
o'clock at St. Francis Xavier church..
