Known as "Allie"
I didn't get to know Alice very well, she passed away in 1979 and we had been living in Idaho since 1973. She was married to Ernie at the time I met her.

After the divorce with Dick, Alice went to work and had to start her life over. At times she needed to take in college students to help pay the bills.

Not sure how she met Ernie, but they had a very nice, close marriage.
Alice was a home body and didn't go out to much. She loved sewing and a few crafts, gardening.

Alice often had medical problems, bad sinus' - even had to have surgery on them, high blood pressure, female problems.
A few months before she passed away she was taken to the hospital thinking she had a heart attack, it turned out that the high blood pressure medicine she was taking had depleted her potassium. So when we got the call that she was in the hospital and they thought she had a heart attack, we thought it was the same problem. Gary wanting to run from the fact that his mom was sick decided we should keep our plans for the day and go up to the mountains to collect drift wood. So we did. When we got home he called his brother and Torre told him he better get here if he wants to see his mom alive. We threw a few clothes in the car and headed out for that long 12 hour drive. We made it in 10 hours and got to the hospital. Gary went in to see his mom, but she was in a coma. The Dr's came out and told us that even if she pulled through that they may have to remove one or both of her legs because of circulation. The family needed to decide if they wanted to "code" her if she should have another attack, she had already had several by then. Torre who always said of himself keep me alive no matter what, Gary who always said unplug me had to make a decision. Gary didn't want to unplug her and Torre thought it would be best. As we were talking about this in the hallway, the Dr came out and said they didn't have to make the decision, she had passed away.

The boys got the house and Ernie got the contents. He didn't leave the boys with any of their mothers stuff. We moved back to Modesto a short time later and moved into the house. It was sold around 1986 or 1987.
