Hi Wendy,
I did some research at the library today, they have the local newspaper on film, the paper is called the Salmon Arm Observer, a weekly edition, first started about 1907.
First the bad news: I could not find an obituary for William James Holloway. I checked the papers from May 13/54 to June 10/54, no luck
Now for some better news: I found an obituary for William’s wife, she died January 30, 1987. Her obit as follows:
Mrs. Mabel Belle Holloway, died in Shuswap Lake general Hospital January 30, 1987 at the age of 92 years.
Funeral services were held from the chapel of Bower’s Funeral Home on Monday afternoon with Mr. Don Cockrill officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Ida Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim & Clarence Holloway, Jim Willis, Jack Hume, Michael Ricks & Steve Sadiwnyk.
Born in Tryon, Oklahoma, USA, on March 17, 1894. Mrs. Holloway resided in Salmon Arm since 1948. She was predeceased by her husband William James Holloway in 1954.
She is survived by her two sons, Clarence Holloway of Enderby, B.C. and Jim Holloway of Salmon Arm; two grandchildren, Roberta of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Tyler of Enderby, as well as several Nieces. (end of obit)
I phoned Jim Holloway today, I have known Jim a bit over the years, he is a very nice person. He confirmed that William James is his father, he said his mother’s name was Mabel and told me when she had died. Jim also said his father had been married twice, but did not have any information about
his first marriage. I mentioned that I would send his address to you in case you would like to contact him, this was fine with him, in fact he was interested to learn more I think. His address is as follows:
[note - I contacted and spoke to both Jim and Clarence, my new uncles. They didn't have any family genealogy but sent me photos of my grandfather in his later years in Canada.]

Also William’s death entry as follows:
