Hi, Wendy
It's nice to hear from another Vredeveld genealogy buff. According to my records, your
Grietje Jans Vredeveld married Jan Willem Nysing on 7 May1831. As you know, Grietje was the daughter of Jan Barteld Vredeveld and Jantien Jans Schuring.
This Jan Bartelds Vredeveld (b. 4 October 1778 d. 28 July 1848)
was a brother to Geesjen Bartelds Vredeveld (b. 18 March 1775 d. 10 June 1806).
Geesjen was my great, great, great, great grandmother. (I think that makes us fifth cousins once removed). At any rate, the book I have on the Vredeveld family was written by B. Schoon-Strijk in 1993. It chronicles all of the Vredeveld families that remained in the Netherlands and carries all of the lines up to 1902. Unfortunately, there is little on the family of your Grietje and Jan Willem Nysing as they came to America in 1847. Many of Gritjes siblings, however, remained in the Netherlands and there is information on them included in the book. The Vredeveld book is in Dutch and, although I can
make out a VERY rough translation of some of it, I am by no means fluent in Dutch.

I don't know how much information you have on Grietje's ancestors, but I have information going back to her great grandparents.

If you live near Holland, Michigan, you can find most of this information in my book on the Vredeveld Family which is in the Herrick Public Library.
