Mildred was born January 27, 1912 in Howard City, MI, to Charles and
Sarah (Brown) Milks. Mildred attended and graduated from Vicksburh High
School. She had resided in Vicksburg most of her life. Mildred worked at
Kalamazoo Paper Box Company, the A & P Store in Vicksburg and in
Kalamazoo, and processed the payroll for Bronson Hospital. She married
Donald Munn and they had two children, Carolyn Ann Munn, who died at the
age of 9, and Mariea (Munn) Hanichen, who services. On January 6, 1962
she was married to Leo Rychel. She and Leo spent 10 happy years traveling
to every state except Alaska. They spent summers at Barton Lake in
Vicksburg and winters in Sebring Florida. Leo died October 30, 1971.
After Leo's death Mildred continued her travels and spending winters in
Florida. She and her daughter Mariea even spent a month traveling
together in Europe. for the last three years Mildred resided at Directors
Hall in Kalamazoo, Upjohn Nursing Home and then moved back to her home at
Barton Lake where she died on July 25, 1995 from complications due to
alzheimers disease. Mildred's family includes her brother, Harold Milks
of Lansing; two sisters Gladys Haas of Warrenton, Oregon, and Alice and
Richard Riegel of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Michael Hanichen, Joy
Hanichen-Freund and her husband, George Freund Jr.; three
great-grandchildren, Christopher Hanichen, and Marshall and Chelsea
Freund; many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are welcome to attend
a graveside service in the Vicksburg Cemetery on Monday August 7, 1995 at
1:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to VNA Hospice or the Alzheimers
Foundation. Arrangements by the Rupert, Durham, Marshall & Gren Funeral
Homes, Vicksburg Chapel.
