Individual note:
I was under 10 when Uncle Harold and Aunt Connie were divorced so I don't
remember much of them living together. I know that they loved each other
up until they both died over 40 years later.
Uncle Harold once told me that he would always love Connie very much, but
he couldn't handle her parents. He was remarried by the time her parents
died. He would come down from Washington a few times a year and always
visit Aunt Connie.
After the divorce we were all still very close to Aunt Connie. When I had
to tell my Mother that she passed away; Mom's words were "What will I
ever do without her"..... they were very very close and more like sisters
than in-laws. We had all just seen Aunt Connie at Bub and Pat's 25th
wedding anniversary party a few days before she passed away. A few years
later, Mom and I were talking and she told me that when her time comes
and if she can't be buried in Hollywood next to her Mother and Sister,
that she'd like to be out there with Aunt Connie. They are buried right
across from each other and caskets turned so that they would be facing
each other.
Aunt Connie was a school teacher for many years. I remember when I was in
3rd grade that she was still teaching at Oakdale Elementry School in
Oakdale California. Her only child, Kathleen, followed in her footsteps
and is also a teacher. Later years I remember Aunt Connie selling real
estate in Oakdale and her office was right across the street from the
cleaners that Mom worked at. I often made a "play house" in the garage
that was behind her office. Family says that Aunt Connie's parents owned
the house that was later turned into the office. I don't remember that, I
remember them living in the country on Orangeblosson Road.
Aunt Connie was a world traveler, we often were invited out to view the
slides and movies that she took in her travels. Often after I was grown
Aunt Connie would invite Mom on little weekend trips. I don't have any
photos of these little trips, but have many of them when they were
younger and traveled to many places. [see if Kathy has photos from these
trips]
Kathy often traveled with her Mother too.
Very active in woman's clubs...... [get info from Kathy]
She loved wild flowers and I remember she had a glass top coffee table
that was full of wild flowers.
I don't remember Aunt Connie painting, but I know that she always had
color tinted photos of Kathy on her hutch that she had done.
Tell of the story of Aunt Connie killing rattle snakes.
Pets........ Collie - Princess
