From 1985-1995 I ran a 'Local BBS' and connected via a network to a genealogy list. On this list I had posted a message and included some of the surnames I was looking for. In 1994 I received a message back from Diana Dunn in Pennsylvania. Her reply was "I'm up to my ears in Nason's, Vandertak's, Welte's, etc.". She ended her message with "You've hit pay dirt".... And boy did I. She sent me a print out of her ancestry chart and some wonderful photos. I in turn sent her what information I had, photos, documents, etc. She told me that she would send me her gedcom soon. Well August 6, 2000 I got it! Here is a photo of her finally turning it over to me in person! Diana and I have stayed in contact via e-mail but we hadn't done any real serious digging together until after the reunion and she returned home from her 4 month trip in November. Now we exchange
e-mail several times a week. We all had a great time at the reunion - Diana set up her laptop and interviewed everyone she could get to sit still long enough. Her friend, Christine, 'hosted' the huge print out of everyone's names and relationships - answering questions. Judee had a hard time getting away from all of her cousin's, aunts, uncles, she hadn't seen in awhile to do much genealogy. I tried to meet as many as I could and answer questions, share family group sheets and gather what I could. Then I just sat there in awe at all of these new cousins I have.

In 1998 I read a post somewhere by Judee Maloney, so I wrote her. We started exchanging data immediately. We have had such fun on the phone and in e-mail doing research together since. Judee is very good at analyzing things and figuring out where to go next. She has helped me many times. Judee's mom got sick last year so Judee hasn't been able to concentrate much on genealogy, but she does pop in once every few weeks. Judee inspired me to start Nason-Cousins on Yahoo-groups last year before the reunion. It has been a great source to contact cousins and verify their data and get to know them. Judee had introduced me to Susan Brewer in e-mail shortly after we made contact. I had written Susan earlier and mentioned to her that some of the data she had on my family was incorrect. Susan, I don't think knew how to 'take me' and was pretty shy, but once she got to know me, she has become a good friend. Susan and I visit several times a week using ICQ and sending messages back and forth to each other or chatting.

At the reunion in August of 2000, Diana mentioned to me again that I would make a good 'Michigan Sleuth'. So upon arriving home from the reunion I sat down and actively started looking for our people in Michigan. To my amazement I found two links that I hadn't found before the reunion. Mariana Kopacz, who is related through our Frielink line. Then Doris Filer who's husband is related through our Frielink line. I also found some Rychel info on Chris Penning's Dutch genealogy site. We started exchanging data. Doris lives close to Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo Michigan so she ran out and took some headstone photos for us. Doris' husband Dan has been sick for the last several months so she hasn't actively been doing genealogy. Soon after exchanging e-mail with them I found a volunteer to get some obituaries for me. That really got the ball rolling and now Mariana tries to make a visit to Lansing Library once a month or so, she is sending great packs of news paper articles that appeared in the Kalamazoo Gazette plus many other documents.

* Many - many Thanks to all who have helped me *

Aregood's
My paternal - my father's mother

I haven't been actively been able to do as much as I want on my Aregood line. However, I wouldn't have the great information and photos had it not been from Donna Aregood. I haven't set out to prove the information she provided me yet. Hopefully after this site is up and running on it's own I can. The only information that I have that is my own is from Winfield Scott Aregood down. A month or so ago I found some Aregood-Airgood-Aergood, etc. (var. spellings) researchers. They have all been great at sending me information. I decided to start a Yahoo-groups for them also. They are so far ahead of me in my research that I am lost in their discussions..... but, I save it all. It will all make sense to me one day, I am sure.

Cruzon's

This is my husband's line on his mother's maternal line. She has provided me with lots of information and copies of many photos that belonged to her mother, Elizabeth Sparkle Cruzon. I just found a group of them on Yahoo-groups and joined. I hope to catch up with them soon.

Much love and thanks to my first cousins Kathy (Holloway) Smith and Gwen (Stierlin) Olins for old pictures and family tid bits!

More to come later on my other lines!
